Department-Sponsored and RSO NetIDs

NetIDs are auto-generated for current students, faculty and staff. Additional NetIDs can be purchased by an MSU department or organization for departmental, individual or special project use.

Departmental NetIDs incur a one-time $10 setup fee and a $1 monthly recurring charge billed to an MSU account number. When department-sponsored NetIDs are no longer used, departments should request that the NetID is disabled at which point the billing would also end.

Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) that are registered with Student Life for the current academic year are granted access to a NetID that is exempt from billing.

An RSO or department-sponsored NetID will automatically grant login access to MSU email, AFS storage, and will provide other limited login privileges. For example, it does not provide login access to library e-resources or Enterprise Business Systems.

Department-Sponsored

Department-sponsored NetIDs include NetIDs created for departmental use and NetIDs requested for department affiliated individuals.

RSOs

Each Registered Student Organizations (RSO) will be granted one NetID. If a NetID already exists for an RSO, the current board members can be granted access to the existing NetID.
