MSU NetID

NetID

A Key to Accessing Electronic Resources

Department-Sponsored NetIDs

The department or organization that purchases a NetID is the owner of the NetID and will be granted access to it. If the NetID is purchased for use by a named individual, such as an affiliated person, that individual will also be granted access to the account.

The department is responsible for handling NetID usage and requesting to disable the NetID once it is no longer required.

If you have questions about department-sponsored NetID billing or need to update your billing account number, contact the MSU ID Office at  (517) 355-4500 or idoffice@msu.edu.

An MSU account number is required when filling out the Purchase a NetID Form.

To activate a NetID, a 4-digit PIN is required. Request a PIN. Use the EX number on your PIN letter as the MSU ID number.

To reset a department NetID's password, request a PIN. Use the EX number on your PIN letter as the MSU ID number.

If you want to change an existing, known password, use the current NetID and password.

Disabling a department NetID that is no longer needed will deactivate the NetID and end the billing.
